Rod Jensen made some significant line-up changes with the Langley Thunder Wednesday night, and it seemed to work.
Jensen, the Thunder head coach, started trade deadline pick-up Nick Rose in goal in place of Brodie MacDonald and Langley came away with a 12-10 victory over the Victoria Shamrocks at the Langley Events Centre.
The Thunder now lead the best-of-seven Western Lacrosse Association finale 2-1.
Game 4 is Friday in Victoria.
Sniper Athan Iannucci was also missing from Langley’s line-up. There was no word from the team as of why.
Victoria beat Langley 10-6 in Game 2.
Wednesday night, the Thunder received four goals from Mark Matthews and one goal and four assists from Garrett Billings. Rose made 36 saves.
The Shamrocks got two goals and five assists from Jeff Shattler and two goals and three assists from Rhys Duch. They’re still missing Corey Small to an undisclosed injury.
Matt Vinc made 30 saves.
Langley are the two-time reigning league champions and won the regular season title this summer. Victoria came second in league play.
The winner of the series host the Ontario champion in the Mann Cup. The Six Nations Chiefs are up 2-0 on the Brooklin Redmen after an 11-5 win on Wednesday.
